North Down Open: 17th May: Watford Open

Top Irish triple jumper Mary McLoone was the classiest athlete on view on Tuesday evening at the North Down Open with the Donegal athlete having a seasons best of 12.37m. For the home town athletes, javelin was the most productive event with pbs including Matthew Stockton (47.81), Rhys McKee (42.93), Niall McGrattan (44.28) and Sophie Cree (25.21). Josh Lowry won the 800m in 2:03.84 min from Ryan Holt of Willowfield with Patricia O’Hagan (St Peters) winning the womens event in 2:21.54 from Jessica Craig in 2:23.41. The 3000m was won by Brendan Teer (East Down) from Conan McCaughan (St Peters) in 9:17.68 with Roberta Dornan first woman in 10:46.02 min, a North Down masters record by 17 seconds.

A big thank you to all the athletes who supported the event and to those who officiated especially to thos of the NITOA who postponed a committee meeting in order to attend.

On Wednesday evening at the Watford Open, Jordan Stokes again lowered his 800m pb, this time to 1:57.39 min. The race was at 9.30pm ans Jordan sys he did not get a clear run in the last 200m so hopes to go faster soon.
