[Not a valid template]With seven firsts and seven seconds and only 14 events out of 21 to count plus the maximum score going in, North Down Senior Mens Team easily won Division 1 of the Mazda all-Ireland League at Tullamore. Towards the end it was a matter of knocking out first the fourths and then the thirds. Richard Lockhart and Jeremy Harper extended their club records in hammer and shot and both relay results were records. North Down scored 121 points with the two county teams of Kildare and Tipperary next on 97 and 93.
A last minute withdrawal due to injury left no time for replacements and caused a reshuffle. Fresh off the Canada plane, John Saulters added the 200m to his list and got a pb. This freed Philip Browne who has been begging for triple jump and did 13.08m in his first ever competitive jump. With firsts also at 100m and 4 x 100m he had to be the top performer. Stuart Donald was left with 400m hurdles baically because he was there. Brendan McConville did 3 events at the same only losing the long jump to David McCarthy right at the end. Similarly Paul Kirkpatrick was 1cm off 2nd in the 56 pounder and Jeremy Harper was eased out of first in the discus at the end but got his own back by winning shot with the very last throw.
