It was new ground for North Down when a team competed in the North West Cross Country Championships at Gransha Hospital grounds over a rather longish 6Km. In a race won by Commonwealth Games triathlete Brian Campbell, Francis Marsh was 8th in 21.43, James Budde 13th in 22.11, Michael Dyer 17th in 22.30 and Robin Brown 28th in 23.24 to finish 4th team to City of Derry, Finn Valley and Letterkenny.
Francis got 3rd overall veterans prize, 2nd M40, and Robin 2nd M20 prize. It marked Francis” first race as a veteran ( to us dinasaurs at any rate who have not yet adapted to the M35 category). It is great to see Francis and Robin finish the year in good form, two athletes who have had more than their share of injury and illness in recent times and it was good to finish with a decent team performances. A Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2006 to all club members and site visitors
