It may not have been quite as bad as the day of the Ulster Schools but the NI and Ulster Senior Championships on Saturday at the newly refurbished Mary Peters Track were held in appalling conditions – bitter cold in the morning, heavy rain in the afternoon and blustery throughout.. An athlete can only take on the conditions on the day, and athletically it was a very good day for North Down athletes. (to be updated)
Writing soon after the finish and to be confirmed, NI Champions were Peter Glass in high Jump, Adam McComb at 400m, Michael Dyer at 800m, Ben Reynolds at 110m hurdles, Callum Hunter at triple jump and Sarah Connolly at high jump. Silvers went to new recruit Curtis Woods at 200m and Mark Patterson who was 0.03 secs behind Michael Dyer in the 800m – the race of the day and the last event. At U18 level Sarah Connolly was 1st at high jump, 2nd at 400m hurdles and 3rd at long jump and Niall McGrattan was 1st at javelin. Molly Brett was 3rd at at 100m and 200m.
