Conditions in Victoria Park on Saturday would seem to have been ideal as the North Down girls had a cluster of pb’s for the venue. Sarah Benton won the ladies race in 22:08 min, only 4 secs off her outright pb at Waterworks 2 years ago. She then headed to Ballyclare to double up in the League cross sountry.. Marie Devine got 3rd with a pb of 23:28 and Angela Fawthrop also had a pb with 24:47. Kathy Graham ran 27:42 and Terry Eakin 25:29.
Terry is effectively running with “R” plates at the moment, having recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Meanwhile he is content to chase 100 parkruns, having completed 87. Sarah is another with a target as she has done 46.
Fastest North Down parkrunner was again Jordan Stokes, who won the Bushy park parkrun (over multi-terrain) for the 2nd week running with a best of 16:01. Later that day – also in Southwest London – Robin Brown shook off recent illness to place a solid 8th in the annual Cambridge Uni v Oxford Uni 7.5mile varsity XC race at Wimbledon Common – and so helped Cambridge to a win over their rivals.
