Pat O’Driscoll the star of the Smith Shield

smith shieldThe Smith Shield was held over the Crawfordsburn Trail on Monday evening with 45 runners completing the course. Pat O’Driscoll was the man of the hour, leading the race from start to finish to come in first with Janine Skelly and Marie Devine 2nd and 3rd. After them, the finishing area became very congested with athletes coming in thick and fast. Niall Robinson and James Budde conspired to achieve the fastest net time of 19:46 min, 2 seconds less than Darren McKee on 19:48 with Les Wilkinson 19:49 and Glen Willis on 19:50. Jessica Craig was fastest female with 20:29 from Julie Balmer and Ange Perrott with Abbey Taylor the fastest junior.

The presentations after the race included the North Down AC cross country awards for 2010-2011 season and these are summarised below.
