Peter wins Irish Junior Decathlon

[Not a valid template]Peter Glass won the Irish U20 Decathlon at the Combined Events Championships in Tullamore over the weekend with a good solid all round performance, showing maturity in his first decathlon. With full 3’6″ hurdles and U20 shot and discus, Peter scored 5683 into a headwind with 100m 11.98, 655 pts (-2.4); LJ 6.65, 732 pts ; Shot 12.66, 647 pts; HJ 1.83, 653 pts; 400m 57.05, 482 pts; 110m hurdles 17.40, 583 pts (-1.9); Discus 34.16, 547 pts; PV 3.70, 535 pts; Javelin 50.13, 591 pts; 1500m 6;01.40, 258 pts. He had 866 points to spare at the end.

Kevin Burke of Crusaders won the Senior event with 5889 points, 216 more than Peter. Kelly Proper of Ferrybank won the Senior Heptathlon with 4709 with Geraldine Finnegan of Dunleer, now Northern Ireland qualified for the Home Nations, 2nd with 4193.

Tom Reynolds was also in action at Hexham in the AAA of England Championship where he was 12th overall and 9th in the Championship but did not beat his 6581 points at Woodford Green on 28th/29th May. Tom scored 5995 with 100m 11.73, 705 pts (+0.6); LJ 6.23, 637 pts ; Shot 11.28, 563 pts; HJ 1.78, 610 pts; 400m 51.30, 756 pts; 110m hurdles 15.95, 738 pts (+1.3); Discus 31.65, 497 pts; PV 3.75, 549 pts; Javelin 32.51, 335 pts; 1500m 4;52.28 605 pts. City of Derry athlete Rudi Moore retired after the first day with 3222 (11.34, 5.64, 10.82, 1.78, 50.74).
