Wednesday 20th April saw over 120 youngsters take part in the first of three Primary Schools minis competitions hosted by the club. Young athletes from most of our local schools and from Comber, Belfast and Lisburn enjoyed the early spring sunshine to participate in the two track events, 60M and 600M and two field events, long jump and javelin.
While the young athletes are still at the development stage they are encouraged to take part in multi events and most of the entrants did just that with some quality performances. Perhaps some of the kids identified skills they weren’t sure existed.
With two more mini contests remaining there will be further opportunities for the athletes to improve on their performances, fingers crossed the weather will be as kind.
