Queens 5K “Round the River”

Good packing from the Senior Men led to 3 in the top 17 and 4 in the top 28 in the Queens 5K which had close to 600 finishers. Jordan Neill again led the team home overtaking Michael Dyer in the run in. Jordan was 3rd of the Under 20 men while Jessica Craig was 2nd Under 20 woman. The men were 4th in the team race and the women 3rd while David Seaton had his first category win at Over 60.

The men were close together for most of the race with Michael just ahead of Jordan and James Budde with Jamie Stewart and Thomas Simmons not far back. Jordan moved ahead near the finish to claim bragging rights. Jordan, Michael and Thomas ran the race last year and were about half a minute faster this time round. The team race went to North Belfast on 43 with Annadale 59, Willowfield 71 and North Down 75.

Jessica had a brilliant run to finish 2nd Under 20 woman in 128th place overall. Along with Lauren Scott, who was 204th overall, she will represent Northern Ireland on Sunday in the 4000m Junior Races, held in association with the London Marathon.

The North Down results were Jordan Neill 14th (2nd U20), 16.06: Michael Dyer 16th, 16.21: James Budde 17th, 16.22: Jamie Stewart 28th, 17.11: Thomas Simmons 43rd, 17.59: David Seaton 85th (1st O60), 19.05: Jessica Craig 128th (2nd U20), 20.08: Thomas Simpson 155th, 20.53:, Lauren Scott 204th, 22.01: Pauline Mossey 318th, 24.17: Jodi Seaton 351st, 24.59.

The race had 586 finishers and was won by Paddy Hamilton in 14.58 with Paul Rowan 2nd in 15.00.
