[Not a valid template]Spring finally arrived with the first midweek daylight race as 640 runners finished the Queens University 5K road race. North Down had a massive 23 finishers, enough for four mens’ and three womens’ scoring teams. St Malachy’s won the mens’ race but North Down were an easy second with the scorers Mark Patterson, Niall Robinson, James Budde and Simon Seaton all in the first 24. Indeed a “B” team of Jordan Stokes, Nick Arkensparr, Brian Barron and Mark Weir would have made the top five. The girls team of Roberta Dornan, Lauren Scott and Nicola Simpson were unofficially 4th.Others in the money were David Seaton 1st M60, Terry Eakin 2nd M55, Lauren Scott 2nd Junior and Les Wilkinson 3rd M50. Race winners were Gareth Turnbull for St Malachys and Kerry Harty for Newcastle.
