In the Ards Half Marathon on Friday, Roberta was 2nd woman and Robin Brown 2nd man. Both had tired legs for some days but they went in different directions for their next racs. Roberta went the profitable route, wining the Jude Gallagher 10 mile race in Limavady for the 2nd year in a row, this time in 65:31 min. Robin went the track route, running the 5000m for the joint Oxford and Cambridge team in the match against Harvard and Yale. Robin was well in the pack up to 3000m in 9:10 min but couldn’t match it when a Harvard man put in a 68:64 lap and went on to finish in about 14:15. Robin finished in 15:23 and was happy enough.
Back to the Limavady “Round the Bridges” race where conditions were very windy but dry. Sarah Benton was 10th woman in 78:41 min and Pat O’Driscoll was 5th M60 in 87:57.
