The Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association, NIMRA, hosted the Run for Rescue starting from Tollymore Outdoor centre on Saturday 9th December. Race entry fees consisted of a donation to the Mourne Mountain Rescue, a voluntary service whose expertise any of us, however experienced and well prepared, may require whenever we head into the mountains. The hilly 6 mile route in Tollymore Forest Park attracted several of North Down AC’s mountain runners; first across the line in 7th place was Oliver Playfair in 43:51. Les Wilkinson was next to complete the tough course in 58:34 followed by Nigel Playfair 59:12, Brian Geddes 1:00:06, Frank Rea 1:04:38 and Kim McCourt 1:12:47.
