Sarah Gibson and Paula Simpson took part in the annual Run To Remember 5k over the rolling hills around Ballynahinch on Sunday 5th November. Starting and finishing at the Royal British Legion the weekend before Remembrance Sunday the race always includes a poppy themed event medal. This year’s was a purple poppy with dog’s paw prints on the ribbon, remembering all animal victims of war. Sarah showed no fatigue from last Sunday’s Dublin Marathon or the previous day’s cross country race taking 2nd place in the women’s race in 21:04, only 6 seconds behind the winner, while Paula Simpson also swapped Saturday’s cross country spikes for road shoes and finished 4th female in 23:52.
