Schools International Pentathlon

Peter Glass finished 5th and 1st Irish at the Schools International in Grangemouth on Saturday. England were team winners in all four age groups with Ireland runner-up in all four. Best individual Irish results were by Katyn Sheehan who won the Under 16 girls and Jennifer Reddy who was 2nd Under 18 girl.

Results seem to indicate that Peter should really have been placed. Out of the 16 in the Under 18 boys event, he was 2nd at 60m hurdles in 8.41, 3rd in shot with 14.10, 3rd in 200m with 23.46, 4th in long jump with 6.21 and 14th in 800m with 2.29.67, way off his projected time. With one event to go, Peter was leading thuogh only 2 points ahead of  Olann Ali Balogum of England. Both had disastrous 800m’s and they dropped to 5th and 3rd.
