The weather forecast was not promising for the Schools Interprovincial at Santry on Saturday but the rain held off apart from a few light showers. The wind though was strong and very variable with an adverse effect on track times and introducing a random element into field events. Andrew Mellon must have been favourite for the 400m and he did not disappoint, winning in 50.34 sec. Alex Catherwood could only manage 1.55m in the high jump and she was 7th. In the discus Laura Potts was 12th with a throw of 22.06m.
