Schools Pentathlon International

England won all but one of the four categories (U16 and U18 boys and girls) at the Schools Combined Events International at Kelvin Hall with Ireland taking second places in both girls events and thirds in both boys events. Sullivan pupils Katie Hewitt and Ben Reynolds were in the Irish U18 teams and though grossly unprepared at this level without access to track or training equipment, both performed well. Katie was 10th overall on 2927 points and fourth Irish scorer with shot 7.42m (362), 60m hurdles 9.42 sec (824), LJ 4.96m (548), HJ 1.44m (555), 800m 2:34.44 (638). Ben was 8th overall on 3047 points and was third Irish scorer with 60m hurdles 8.62 secs (832), Shot 11.13m (832), 200m 24.83 sec (620), LJ 6.01m (589), 800m 2:19.97 (452).

Jason Harvey (Campbell) was first Irish U18 scorer on 3179 points. Both Jason and Ben were missing their highest scoring event, the high jump, as boys miss out on the event in this particular competition due to timetable restrictions.
