Lurgan based St Peter’s AC hosted their first cross country event, The Spadetown Cup on the grass, trails and forest paths in Lurgan Park on Saturday 14th October. The club hopes to make it a permanent fixture on the Athletics NI cross country calendar from next season. North Down AC’s junior athletes will look forward to a return visit after their successful runs; in the 900m U9s event Daly Seaton was 1st and Harrison Mair was 3rd. At U11, Robin Anderson was 1st over 1200m with Adam Downey finishing 8th. Caitlyn Dickenson came 3rd in the 1800m U13 girls’ race while in the U13 boys’ race Carter Rolston was 3rd, just ahead of Sebastian Mair in 4th with Isaac Hall coming 8th. Alex Downey completed the roll call of podium positions with a win in the U15 boy’s race over 2100m. Sarah Gibson was representing the club in the senior races, just 6 days after smashing her marathon PB in Chicago, and ran a superb 32:09 over 6.2k.
