Several of our runners attended Holywood exchange on Sunday to run either the 10k or Half marathon distances with each entry contributing to the worthwhile MS cause.
Clair Quigley made headlines when she won the ladies 10k race in 42:10, some 3 minutes clear of her nearest rival. David Massey had a steady 9th place finish recording 38:30. John McGarvey equalled last year’s best with 48:17 which placed him in 40th and Valerie Blayney was 83rd crossing the line in 55:22. Andrea Green made it inside the top 100 with 56:05 finishing 90th and Clare Russell admirably got round the circuit in 1:08:09.
In the half marathon, which consisted of two out and back loops, Eamonn O’Reilly made it home in 1:28:52 giving him 33rd place.
Our next 4 athletes returned within one and a half minutes of each other, led by Philip Mulligan who pb’d with 1:32:21, Catherine Roberts 1:33:03, Keith Gilmore 1:33:10 and Alan Massey 1:33:48. John Ferguson wasn’t far behind in 1:35:41 and Valerie McDonough was next in 1:38:02 followed by Simon Sexton a minute later clocking 1:39:01.
Michael Stevenson clocked 1:40:07 before Johnny McGrath completed the course in 1:42:01 and next to finish was Simon Robinson in 1:43:15. Claire Garrad had a good run when recording 1:46:12 and Nicola Downey hit the tape in 1:50:00. Cliff McCausland continued his marathon training with 1:50:32 and then Helen Sexton stopped the clock on 2:04:38 and Noreen McCausland 2:25:57.

Meanwhile in Germany Rab Martin completed another marathon, this time in Bonn. He made it round the city in 3:57 and enjoyed the German hospitality in the process.
