The Northern Ireland Final of the McCain UK Young Athles League was held on Saturday at Antrim under beautiful weather conditions. North Down sent its biggest ever team to the final but, with a huge number of events to cover, not big enough. City of Derry were again winners with Regent House and North Down 2nd and 3rd. The day was highly enjoyable and there were some quality performances, headed by two of the "Athlete of the Match" awards. Beth Wilson won the U15 girl category witha double of 9.38m shot and 26.00m siscus while the prestigeous U17 youth category went to Matthew Martin who dominated the javelin with 51.85m.
