The Antrim Forum hosted day 3 of the 2019 Team Trophy on Sunday with some fine individual performances, and a gold medal winning team display from the North Down ladies. In the individual races North Down had the winners of both heats of the ladies 400m, with Megan Briggs taking the first in 1:01.82 and Rachel Gibson the second in 59.93. Sarah Grant kept up the momentum with top spot in the 1500m, whilst Francis Marsh (4:54.05) paced Katie Moore (4:54.58) to 4th. In the men’s 800m Michael Dyer made a welcome return to place 2nd in 2:00.02, whilst Craig McMeechan (2:02.17) was 3rd, Nick Irvine (2:10.47) 5th and Jamie McMeechan 10th in 2:15.81.
Bryanna Catney was close to her Pb in posting 2:33.91 to finish 5th in the ladies 800m, but the highlight of the day was the performance of the one lap wonders, with Katie Moore, Rachel Gibson, Megan Briggs and Rachel McCann combining to claim the 4 x 400m title in 4:07.37, a full 12 seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.
