Tough Conditions in Bedford

The weather in Northern Ireland may have been sunny and warm over the bank holiday weekend but those competing for Northern Ireland at the Inter County Championships in Bedford had to endure wet and very windy conditions. Hannah Lewis ran well in her 200m heat for third, narrowly missing an automatic qualifying place but 25.20 sec in the -3.5 wind made it impossible to qualify for the final as a fastest loser. In the same conditions Hannah joined Mary Devlin in the long jump and wind and rain made it difficult to hit the board with Hannah and Mary placed 7th and 8th respectively, Hannah jumping 5.47m. Throughout the day she was soaked through. On Monday the conditions were drier, however the wind was still very strong and blustery.  Amy Foster got a medal, with a bronze in the 100m with a 12.31 sec clocking which again was into a strong -3.5 head wind.
