U14 and U15 Championships

The Northern Ireland and Ulster Track and Field Championships continued at Mary Peters Track on Sunday with the U14 and U15 age groups, and will be completed on Saturday 14th at Antrim with the U16 and U17 age groups. In far better conditions than the previous day, there were big fields from all over the province. Aaron Sexton was the outstanding  North Down athlete and was undefeated in heats and finals at U15 100m and 200m with finals times of 11.99sec and 23.60sec. He was also 2nd at U15 high jump with 1.55m.

The Scott sisters  were the only club athletes at U14 level with Anna Scott 6th at 800m with a pb of 2:38.72min and  Jessica Scott 3rd in the discus with 12.88m. At U15, Molly Longstaff  had 2 pbs with 2nd at 200m in 28.94sec and 10th at 100m with 14.06seec. In the same events, Isobel Meharg ran 30.57 and 14.46sec while Nia McNally at 800m was 8th in 2:39.85min. Reece Simpson ran an outdoor pb at 800m with 2:17.30min.
