Vicky Clegg and Jamie Stewart were both first Northern Irish runners home at the Lake District venue of Keswick in the British and Irish Fell Junior Running International. Vicky was an excellent 5th in the U19 Womens’ race while Jamie was 9th in the U19 Mens’ race. Northern Ireland got the bronze medal in the Mens’ race. Both runners have represented Northern Ireland many times in this fixture and were making their final appearance in the event.
Jamie was 9th and along with 14th from Owen Carleton and 15th from Jonathan McCloy, this was enough for 3rd in the team race behind England and Scotland and a satisfying 1 point ahead of the South. U17 girls were the only other team to have a scoring team and they were 5th, Kerry Iveston finishing 22nd for 2nd scorer.
Vicky ran an excellent race for 5th but Nicola McCaughey in 15th was the only other Northern Irish scorer. In the U14 open race, Thomas Simpson was 24th.
