Denis Scott and Pat O’Driscoll were the only North Down athletes to do the Waterside Half Marathon in Derry on Sunday. In heavy rain and with a big field , Denis finished 16th in 77:16 min and Pat was 905th in 127:44 min. Stephen Duncan of Omagh was the winner. The race was the concluding race in the ChampionChip/Up and Running Series of half marathons. The Series had long been decided in the categories of interest to North Down AC and Denis’s result was merely confirmation that he had won the Open Men Category. Julie Balmer, who did not race in Derry, had already won her F35 racing category and had the best individual result of any female runner.
