Using the Crawfordsburn Park Run as a warm up for a marathon the following day wouldn’t suit everyone but Donald Smith thrives on this type of weekend activity.
Following the Saturday 5k around the park Donald appeared at the start line in Carrickfergus the following morning. The Lighthouse Marathon involved a looped marathon from Carrickfergus Castle to the Blackhead Lighthouse before enduring hills and hailstones around Islandmagee and Ballycarry and a welcome return via road and trail to the castle. Donald finished well up the field in 5th place.
Interestingly it is World Marathon day on Saturday 26th February and once again EAMS are hosting a marathon and a half, once again Donald and other ND runners will toe the line.
