The run of “Athletes of the Match” continued in Round 3 with another three out of four awards, remarkably including two brothers. Mark Atkinson won the boys track award for a grade 1 in 100m and brother David won the boys field award in long jump. Kathryn Colwell won girls track in 100m (where Natasha Paxton also had a grade 1). The girls field award also stayed close to the Bangor track going to Claire Hooks of Regent for javelin.
It was only picked up later that not only did the U15 girls relay team beat the NIYAL record by 2 seconds but the U13 girls team (Kathryn, Natasha, Jennifer and Ali beat U13 record also.
Athletes from several clubs proved ineligible and this will be reflected in the revised results and scores.
