The Mary Peters track hosted the 2nd round of this years’ Youth Development League on Saturday. North Down had a successful outing with most events covered with considerable success within each age group.
In the U13 boys Lukas Kenny, Flynn Longstaff, Adam Skelly and Nathan Semple covered all the disciplines with victories for Nathan in the B 1500M in 5:26:54, Adam was 3rd in the A race with 5:21:60, Nathan again winning the B Long Jump and then Lukas and Flynn exchanging victories in the Shot Putt and Discus. The U13 boys relay team came 3rd.
Katie Kimber had a trio of successes in the U13 girls winning the 75M, 150M and the Discus. Tara McDonough won both the B 1200M and B Discus while Hollie Massey competed in the 75M, 150M and the Shot. Amelia Tyler was 2nd in the A 1200M with 4:06:82 and Lucy Stevenson threw both the Discus and Javelin, coming 2nd in the B Discus.
The U15 boys saw Jakob Swann taking both the 300M and 1500M with Zac Moraghan winning the B 300M and finishing 2nd in the Javelin. Finn Ritchie competed in the 100M, High Jump and Long Jump with Finlay Miller making his mark in the Long Jump, Shot and Javelin and John McNally the B 1500M.
The U15 girls were covered with 3 second place finishes for Rachel McCann, 100M, 200M and Long Jump- the same City of Lisburn athlete pipping Rachel in each event. There were wins for Megan Drummond, B 200M, Megan Briggs A 1500M, Amy Kimber A Discus, Kate McCann B Discus and the relay team. Chloe Walker was 3rd in the B Long Jump and Leah McClements managed 4th in the B 100M.
Aaron Sexton unsurprisingly won the 100M and 400M with Luke Adair finishing 3rd in the B 100M and Isaac Hart 3rd in the B 400M. Isaac followed this up with 4th in the Triple Jump and 4th in the Javelin. Luke also multi evented finishing 4th in the Long Jump and 3rd in the B Javelin. Thomas Patterson ran in the 1500M finishing 4th and the relay team managed a 3rd place finish.
In the U17 girls Molly Longstaff and Aimee Johnston finished 4th and 2nd in the respective 100M races while Hollie Brannigan won the A 200M and came 4th in the High Jump. Molly also had two fifth place finishes in the Triple Jump and Shot Putt. Nia McNally was a comfortable 2nd in the 3000M and the relay team also came in with a 3rd place finish.
The senior events included Roger Sexton competing in the 200M, 4th, and the 400M, 5th and Ollie Wakefield who was leading finisher in the Long Jump.
Well done to all of our young athletes in competing and helping NDAC to what is believed to be 2nd position in round 2. (Thanks to Roy Kerr for the photos)
