We were a bit short of bodies at Mary Peters for Round 3 of the Young Athletes League but those present did well. The sprint girls Tasha, Kathryn, Hannah and Kiki more or less got maximum points at U15 and U17 level in sprints and relays with Hannah having a 100m pb of 12.6 secs. She also had a rare 2nd at long jump with Katie winning the B event while Sarah Newell led the U13’s with a win at javelin. Mark Armstrong won the U13 800m in a pb and was 2nd at long jump and 75m and he was well supported by Michael Donaldson and Louis Atkinson who won the discus. Steven Colwell had a 2nd at U15 100m while the U17 boys had 800m runners to spare. Niall Robinson won the A race in a pb and Mark Patterson the B race. That allowed Robin Brown to switch to the Senior Mens 800m race where he had a pb. James Budde dipped under 2 minutes to win the Senior 800m from John Carlisle with Francis Marsh 3rd in a seasons best of 2:03.2 and this season that of course means a club over 40 record.
The Young Athletes League Final this year is at Mary Peters meaning only 5 teams can qualify. The boys are in 5th place though fairly safe but the girls have work to do being joint 6th in a very tight group.
