Eva Massey duly retained her Irish title in the shot at Santry on the second day of the AAI Senior Championships. Winning by nearly 3 metres, Eva”s best putt was 15.45m. Amy Foster ran well to win the bronze medal in the 100m behind Anna Boyle and Emily Maher, running 12.08 sec into a 0.5mps headwind while Jeremy Harper was only able to take one throw in the discus, finishing 4th with 37.79m.
Amy and Jeremy were among those caught by a clash between the AAA U20/U23″s at Bedford and the Irish Seniors. On the first day of the Championships John Saulters had a seasons best of 49.92 secs in a third place finish in the heats of the 400m just missing the cut. At 1500m Francis Marsh was 9th in heat 1 in 4:08.83 and James Budde was 6th in heat 3 in 4:05.63. There was a bronze medal in her secondary event for Eva when she threw 41.42m in the discus with Renata Katewicz of SLOT throwing 46.33m and Eileen O”Keefe of Kilkenny 45.02m.
