The Northern Ireland Team, running as Belfast in the first semi final of the Inter City Indoor Challenge at Kelvin Hall, finished 6th with some good performances against teams far more attuned to training indoors. North Down, though currently exiled even from outdoor facilities, had a strong representation on the mens" side. Michael Dyer was 4th at 1500m in 4:04.88 min and a member of the Medley Relay team alongside Gareth Hill, Kevin McCoy and Jason Smith which took the bronze medal in 4:37.05 min. Luke Reynolds was also 4th at 60m hurdles in 8.54 sec while his brother Tom was 6th in the pole vault with 3.82m. Jeremy Harper putted 13.85m in the shot for 6th.
Other Belfast medals came from Anna Boyle (1st at 60m), Kerry Harty (2nd at 1500m), Mandy Gault (3rd at long jump), Jason Smyth (3rd at 60m) and Caolan Flanagan (2nd at high jump).
