Hannah Lewis, winner at the 2006 UK School Games, added another long jump victory at the Schools International in Newport on Saturday but again fell victim to a clash between her two primary events. After a nightmare jorney through rough weather, the Irish team reached Wales at 3am after an 11 hour journey. Hannah won the long jump with a pb of 5.74m (-0.7) and then had to run to the start of the 200m (again) as the timetable had been changed. She was 2nd most of the way into a strong headwind but says her legs buckled near the end and she was 4th in 25.34 sec (01.9). She was also part of the 4x100m relay that was second. Ben Reynolds was third in the pole vault with 3.80m and 6th in the 100m hurdles in 13.70 sec (-1.9). Ireland was 2nd to England in the girls, boys and combined matches.
