Hannah Lewis won the AAAs U17 Championship at long jump on Saturday in Sheffield jumping 5.68m (+1.0). Scottish girl Jade Nimmo, UK no.one, was second with 5.67m and Laura Samuel (English Schools champion) was third with 5.65m. A delighted Hannah said she found the run-up was hard as she found that the track is quick and she is running faster and she thought the board was raised too high. She no-jumped a lot and her first jump was very long again but it was a slight no jump. She runs in the 200m on Sunday.
Saturday was a huge day for Northern Ireland athletes who obtained 5 Golds at the AAAs Championships. In addition to Hannah, Noel Collins ran 4.18.78 at 1500m S/c just inside his NI Record. Jason Harvey set a new PB with 2.04m and just narrowly missed 2.06m. Ciaran Dolan jumped 6.39m in the Long Jump which is a NI age best. Ciara Mageean was also 1st in the 3000m.
