It was a successful night for the North Down athletes at the picturesque Carlingford 5k road race on Friday evening. As the warm sun settled below the nearby Cooley mountains the race set off on a mainly out and back route. Starting on the seafront and finishing just inside the town area the race welcomed 531 entries.
Craig McMeechan continued his fabulous form with an overall victory in 15:13, hitting the front with 1k to go his recent 1500m racing assisting his strong finish. Jessica Craig finished just short of winning as she finished just seconds behind the leading lady with a frustrating time of 17:00, and Jamie McMeechan was close by as he secured a best time of 17:05.
