[Not a valid template]There was a record number of athletes on Saturday when Newcastle AC had 369 pairs of finishers at the Castlewellan Christmas Cracker, the 30th in the series. Run in pairs over about 11 miles of mixed terrain with yearly variations, the time of the 2nd runner counts for the pair. The category is determined by the combined age. North Down AC had 12 pairs with Dennis Scott and James Budde the fastest in 5th overall. Probably Julie Balmer and Nick Irvine had the best result with 43rd overall, winning the mixed 70-79 prize. Certainly Nikki Heywood had the most striking outfits.
