The first meeting in the Firmus Energy Super 5 series took place on Thursday evening at Mary Peters Track. With many events from minis to seniors, there was the inevitable late finish. There was a limited number of North Down athletes there as most had competed in the North Down Open just before but those that went had some excellent performances. The U13 boys Zac Moraghan and Johnny Moore wanted their money’s worth. Zac topped the combined 100m list with 13.74 sec and was 4th at 1500m with 5:28.42 min and 6th at long jump., Johnny won the LJ with an impressive 4.55m and was 15th at 100m. Holly Brannigan was 3rd in the U15 100m with 13.40. The huge fields in the senior 1500’s must have been fun with elbows flying in the dark. Jessica Craig came 1st overall in the ladies race in 4:52.21 min and Reece Simpson in the mens one ran a pb of 4:37.54.
