The 2nd day of the Northern Ireland and Ulster Indoor Age Group Championships took place on Sunday at the Magherafelt Meadowbank Arena. Another successful day was had by North Down athletes despite freezing conditions. Oliver Wakefield made it a hat trick of gold medals for the weekend by winning the U17 60m hurdles in 8.73 sec. Aaron Sexton collected another title by winning the U16 200m in a blistering 23.72 sec. Luke Adair came back for more and was also in the U16 200m and he was 2nd in his heat in 27.23 and 5th in the final in 26.79. There were 2 bronze medallists, Reece Simpson finishing 3rd in the U18 1500m in 4:28.29 and Saskia Greer also 3rd in the U18 200m in 28.52 (2nd in heat in 28.33). Molly Longstaff was 6th in the U16 long jump with 4.25m and Kirsty O’Neill just missed qualifying for the U16 200m with 28.53 for 4th place in the heats.
