Phoenix Park Dublin was the venue for the National 5k Championships on Sunday. The park was bathed in sunshine for the race and the athletes took advantage of the conditions to post some quick times.
Sarah Benton was flying the flag for North Down at the event and recorded her quickest 5K in a couple of years as she timed at 22:30. This was good enough to claim 5th place in her age category.
The mens race was won by Clonliffe Harriers’ Efrem Gidey in 13:51 while the ladies race saw Brother Pearces AC’s Ciara Hickey win on 16:24.
