UCD and DCU took the first 2 places at Maynooth in the Irish Universities Road Relay Championships with the two Northern teams battling for bronze. Queens in 42 min 57 edged out University of Ulster in 43 min 10. Francis Marsh ran the opening 1 mile leg for UU and was 7th in 4:35 with Kevin Seaward pulling them up to 4th on the 3 mile third leg. John Saulters for Queens "B" also ran the opening leg finishing 11th in 4:44 with the team finally 9th in 46:20.
