[Not a valid template]North Down Senior Men were second team to host club City of Derry when the North West Cross Country Championships were held in the grounds of Gransha Hospital. Michael Dyer was 5th, Francis Marsh 6th, James Budde 9th and Robin Brown 16th with Francis taking the Masters title. City of Derry had 24 points, North Down 36 and Ballymena Runners 102 with the individual title being retained by Brian Campbell of Willowfield. On a flat course which, though not muddy, was waterlogged North Down had nine runners.
The results were Michael Dyer 5th 20.55; Francis Marsh 6th 20.56; James Budde 9th 21.10; Robin Brown 16th 21.43; Jordan Neil 26th 22.31; John Quiery 50th 25.00; David Seaton 52nd 25.12; Norman Lellyett 61st 25.53. Francis was first over 40, George and John 2nd and 3rd over 50, David and Norman 3rd and 4th over 60 and Robin and Jordan 4th and 5th under 20. Although he was not suited by the soft ground, Jordan has been hammering out some fierce sessions in training and it was great to to have him in action after nearly two years out with injuries. As of course it was to have Michael back for the holidays.
