North Down Open No 3: 30th July

Another good meeting in the North Down Open Series was held on Tuesday evening at the Sportsplex. The start of the published track programme was held up due to the late inclusion  by request of hurdles races but good weather enabled the meeting to go through in reasonable time. The closest race was the mens 3000m where Conor Curran, Andrew Considine,  Mark Wright and Stephen Wylie were a tigt bunch before going to Conor Curran in 9:19.24. It was a good run by Stephen Wylie in his first track 3K. Rachel Gibson had a pb in the womens race.

There were plenty of pb’s throughout for the North Down athletes, memorably by Oliver Wakefield who cracked the 6m long jump barrier at last. His 2nd jump was 6.03m, trumped by his 3rd with 6.09m going 2nd only to Tom Reynolds in the North Down all time U15 list.

Thes meetings couldn’t be held without help and we thank all who officiated and helped, whether they werw club members, ANI officials or guests. Also a big thank you to ANI for the loan of their photo finish equipment before the WPFG. The final meeting of the series will be on Tues 27th August.
