Helen Irvine endured the Covid enforced postponement of the Vienna half marathon for two years before completing the race on Sunday.
Helen is also an accomplished cyclist and when the Vienna race was completed it appears that she has no intention of running distance races ever again. Let’s hope we see her in a North Down running vest locally in the near future alongside her NDCC jersey.
In contrast to Helen, Sean Nickel will be running distance races for the foreseeable and once again he pulled one literally out of nowhere, in the shape of Barry and John’s Backyard Ultra, around Glencullen. Sean completed 100 miles around the 4.1 mile loop. Well done Sean.
