Les Wilkinson came away with an age category win at the annual New Years Day race around Glenariff Forest park as he completed the tortious route in 41:32 placing him 74th overall. With around 900 feet of ascent during the 5 mile race the 360 finishers, 6 of whom were attached to North Down AC, kicked off their 2019 running diaries in style.
Sean Nickell wasn’t far behind Les in 77th place clocking 42:01 and Frankie Rea finished 4 minutes later in 46:04, 125th. Cara Jeffrey was next in 202nd, completing the trails in 50:52 and Donald Smith would have noticed the change in scenery from his last outing at the East Antrim marathon as he finished in 312th timed at 59:38. Paula Simpson crossed the finish line in 1:11:33.
