South of England Cross Country and London Indoor Games

Francis Marsh and Katie Moore were in action last Saturday (30th Jan) at the South of England Cross Country Championships over the gruelling Parliament Hill course. Both were competing for Herne Hill Harriers and Katie helped them to their first ever medal in these Championships when she was 3rd club scorer for the team bronze medal. Showing the value of every runner with each position counting, they were only 1 point ahead of 4th with a potential tie going against them. They were over 500 finishers in the 8K race with Katie 72nd in 35:11 min. Her next outing will be for Loughborough in the BUCS Championhips at Gloucester.

It was touch and go for Francis who had been battling a virus for several weeks but it seemed to have worked out in the end. Hilly, muddy and 15K long, there were over a thousand finishers, with Francis 206th in 52:32, delighted to have broken the hour.

On the same day in the same city but a very different surface, Sarah Connolly, now at Brunel University, competed at Lee Valley in the London Indoor Games with a new 60m hurdles pb of 9.01 sec.
