In the 4th and final round of the British Athletics League. Premier Division and Div 1 clubs were at Copthall and Div 2 and 3 clubs at Derby. In the Premier Division Brendan McConville (Woodford Green) won the “B” pole vault with 4.20m and was 7th in the “B” 400m hurdles in 61.94 sec. Also at Copthall in Division 1, Jeremy Harper, competing for Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow under the Higher Competition Rule had another big throw in the discus with a pb of 51.48m (4th). He was also 5th in the “A” shot with 13.76m and 8th in the “A” javelin with 47.88m.
In the same division Tom Reynolds (also WSEH) was 7th in the “B” 400m in 51.93 sec while brother Luke (Cardiff) was 2nd in the “B” 110m hurdles in 15.15 sec and in the 3rd place 4 x 100m relay. Tom Patton (Thames Valley) was 3rd in the “A” 400m hurdles in 53.55 sec and in the 5th place 4 x 400m relay. WSEH won promotion back to the Premier Division finishing 2nd overall whie Cardiff were relegated. In Division 2 Michael Dyer had a busy day in Derby for Herne Hill Harriers, winning the “A” 800m in 1:54.16 min, 4th in the “A” 400m in 50.82 sec and 3rd in the 4 x 400m relay. Herne Hill were 2nd in the match and 4th in the division while in their Southern League team Francis Marsh was 3rd at 1500m in 4:12.9 min.
