The Smith Shield was held on Monday evening over the Crawfordsburn Trail with 40 runners starting and 38 completing the course. There were a couple of guests, one of which, Mark Cavanagh, a parent with no form, came in first, leading the race from start to finish. Second and third were the two Charlie McNutts. As the first club member, Charlie Senior was the winner of the Smith Shield, finishing 17 seconds of his son Charlie Junior. After them, the finishing area became very congested with athletes coming in thick and fast with two more juniors, Jacob Cavanagh and Lauren Hamilton, following Charlie Jr.. Dennis Scott and James Budde achieved the fastest net times of 18:11 and 18:12 mins. Jessica Craig was fastest female with 21:29 from Ange Perrott and Valerie McDonough. with Claire Francis the fastest junior.
